SUMMARY

The north-east end of Sathorn, near Rama IV road and Lumpini park, is the most prestigious and the most accessible part of the large Sathorn-Silom area, Bangkok’s historical central business district (“CBD”), which is home to 50% of all office spaces and regional headquarters of foreign corporations, as well as numerous embassies.

The lifestyle in this neighborhood is quite different from Sukhumvit: larger avenues, a more consistently western urbanism, but also a few pockets of vibrant local areas such as Soi Suanplu (Sathorn Soi 3), Soi Ngamduplee, and Sathorn Soi 1.

Expat families in search of a quiet apartment, or newcomers with an office in the area, favor the residential area comprised between Sathorn 1 (all the way to Yenakart) and Sathorn 9, where they will find a number of attractive low-rise apartments and condos. High-rise condos – for expats looking for breathtaking city views – are found along Sathorn and Narathiwat roads.

The north end of the Sathorn and Silom roads are connected by the green and quiet pocket of soi Saladaeng, a small yet popular residential area.
