BANGKOK IN A NUTSHELL
The "Big Mango" is a large metropolis of approximately 7 million inhabitants (12 million for the Bangkok administrative region). Although it has
always been an attractive destination for tourists, businessmen, expats and retirees from all over the world, its real breakthrough towards modernity
can be dated back to the inauguration of the first Skytrain ("BTS") line above Sukhumvit road, in 1999. Since then, the city has been deeply reshaped
and its residential, business and leisure areas progressively stretched to the north and east of the riverside and Sathorn-Silom area (the Central Business
District-CBD). Central Bangkok now ends at Phetchburi to the north, and Phrakhanong to the east.
Bangkok has arguably become one of the most exciting and dynamic cities in the world, firmly modern yet deeply rooted in its traditions, crowded with expats of all
ages and origins - estimated foreign population of over 500,000, and visited by millions of tourists from all over the world ever year.
Both in Asia or in the West, it's hard to find a place that is so safe, where the local people are so helpful and relaxed (Buddhism helps), and where the quality
of life is so high but affordable (notably compared with its Asian peers Singapore and Hong Kong).
Our expat guide has been patiently designed to answer all your questions related to the way of life in Bangkok, from choosing the most suitable
neighborhood to settle down and the best international school for your kids, to learning about parks, transportation and sports clubs
