Area organized around the large eponymous intersection surrounded by high and modern office towers and the scenic Benjakiti Park, famous for a gigantic lake in its heart.
Asoke has become the new geographical center of Bangkok, as the capital city’s centre of gravity progressively shifted east with the construction of the Sukhumvit BTS line (first skytrain line opened in Bangkok) in the late 90’s, followed by the underground MRT line, also stopping in Asoke (Sukhumvit MRT station).
Asoke is therefore conveniently located within easy reach of all the main areas of Bangkok: Sukhumvit, Central Lumphini (Ploenchit – Rajadamri), Sathorn – Silom.
It is worth noting that until the mid 90’s, Asoke was the edge of the city center, and Phrom Phong, Thonglor and Ekkamai were considered suburban areas. Things have changed as the said areas latter have progressively become Bangkok’s new favorite expat area.
