Silom road is another very busy business center but due do its higher ratio of Thai companies (banks, insurance, gems trading, etc.) it feels more local.
It is also a very touristic area, with round-the-clock shoppers (many street vendors at night). Silom’s nightlife is also popular among the gay community.
Chong Nonsi can be considered as the geographical business and transportation center of Sathorn, with its convenient skywalk and its iconic skyscrapers: Maha Nakhon - Ritz Carlton (highest residential building in Thailand and a new architectural icon), the Empire Tower (an impressive office tower), the W Hotel tower, Sathorn Square tower and the Empire Tower (to date still the largest office building in Bangkok).
Around Chong Nonsi, numerous mid-range to high-end housing options can be found, from low-rise apartments in green and quiet streets to high-rise condos with stunning views on the city to the north and the river to the south, and from affordable town houses to large ambassadors’ residence. The best expat residences can be found in Sathorn Soi 7, 9, 10 and 12, Naratiwat Soi 7 and 9, Silom Soi 3 and 7, and Soi Pan.
